This Is How We Started
Reformation Lutheran Church had its beginnings only a few short years ago. A small group of people frustrated over their battles with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, (ELCA) decided to form a new congregation. Seeking to be linked with other Lutherans that held the Scriptures in high esteem and also held more closely to traditional Lutheran beliefs, they joined the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC). After much prayer the first Church service was held on the afternoon of July 20th, 1997 in a rented church facility in the Granite Hills area of El Cajon. The new church officially called Pastor John Kent at their first annual meeting. Pastor Kent had been serving Community Lutheran Church in Oceanside and was originally called by Community Lutheran to help in the formation of the RLC mission congregation. Since that first day of worship in 1997 RLC has grown very steadily hoping to spread the light of the Gospel as well as the light of the Reformation. The church recently moved to its own facility on 846 South Johnson in El Cajon. We are thrilled to be meeting in our new church home as of December of 2007. This has been a big move for us, and we are looking forward to what is ahead as we grow in God's Word together in this neighborhood in the Southwestern corner of El Cajon.
